Every year, our Car Confections Team gets behind the wheels of hundreds of cars, from every size and price point, to make reviews for the channel. So, we wanted to jot down our Top Picks for each of the segments we spend time in. Today, we will be sharing our Best 5 Midsize Sedans for 2024. For an in-depth video about each, be sure to head to the video linked at the bottom of this article!

Scoring Criteria

As the opinions of two brothers with no kids can differ from those of others in the market for a car, we have developed five categories that we feel shoppers prioritize in shopping for a Midsize Sedan. The categories are as follows:

  1. Space (measurements, cargo, interior storage)
  2. Luxury (features offered, details)
  3. Powertrain (fuel economy, choices offered, power)
  4. Technology (quantity, quality, ease of use, advanced features)
  5. Driving Dynamics (you chose not to buy an SUV, so you want to be rewarded)

Each of the categories will be rated on a 1–5-point scale, and winners will be determined by adding each category up for a final score. Ties will be broken by our professional opinions of each model.

Also, if you’re interested in buying any of the models we mention today, we have a tool on the website that you will want to check out. #5: Subaru Legacy – 13 Points

Making its way into 5th place is the Subaru Legacy, which may not be the flashiest option, but packs a ton of practicality! The Legacy has good space, fairly easy tech to use, and offers some good luxury with the higher tier models. However, if you’re looking for a lively powertrain with the driving dynamics of an Impreza WRX, the Legacy will struggle to satisfy those needs.

#4: Kia K5 – 16 Points

On a total opposite design outlook from the Subaru, comes the Kia K5 in 4th place! This very handsome option is on the verge of a refresh, but already performs well in having diverse powertrains, good space, and great driving dynamics, especially if you opt for the GT model. However, the K5 lacks in overall technology, but the 2025 refresh is looking to change that.

#3: Toyota Camry (2025) – 16 Points

The first 2025 model we were able to get our hands on is the all-new Toyota Camry! This icon has been redesigned with new tech and a new hybrid exclusive powertrain. However, with the TRD powertrain gone, little added luxury, and no extra space, the Camry fails to score any higher with this scale. The Camry remains as a great, well-rounded option in this segment though.

#2: Honda Accord – 20 Points

Falling into 2nd place is the recently redesigned Honda Accord! The Accord has always been the space king of this segment and continues to do so with this generation. Additionally, Honda continues to build in sporty dynamics, two powertrain options, and the best technology in the Honda line-up. However, even top trims of the Accord lack some more high-end luxury features.

#1: Hyundai Sonata – 21 Points

With just a one-point lead into 1st place is the Refreshed Hyundai Sonata! The Sonata has always been one of the most versatile and well-rounded options in this segment, and it shows in the score. With three unique powertrain options, well-equipped tech and luxury, and good space, this Sonata is worthy of the top spot for this year!

Honorable Mentions

Of course, there are more than 5 options in this segment, so we wanted to take a moment to mention the vehicles that didn’t quite score high enough, which are:

  1. Nissan Altima
  2. Chevy Malibu
