The Subaru Outback has long been a staple of the Subaru lineup, offering practicality and capability in a “wagon-esque” package. But now, the Outback is all-new for 2026, which includes more tech, features, and an SUV-like appearance. So, after getting hands-on with this new model, does this new generation still capture the heart of the Outback name?? This article is going to cover all the updates for the 2026 Subaru Outback but be sure to watch the video at the bottom of this article for an in-depth design review!

Slam Dunk: The Outback has more appeal than ever to many buyers

Air Ball: We wish there was a more efficient hybrid offered for the price

Design and Features

As mentioned above, please watch the video linked below for a full in-depth exploration of the exterior design and differences. For 2026, gone is the full wagon design in lieu of a new, boxier shape with a more SUV based appearance for this year. While we know many will mourn the loss of this element, it still has the same long appearance paired with more cargo space as well. The design language is also more luxurious, with less cladding and more body-colored elements for greater mass appeal. But, if rugged is your preference, the Wilderness model is bolder and more rugged looking than ever!
