Design and Features

As mentioned above, please watch the video linked below for a full in-depth exploration of the exterior design and differences. The Highlander doesn’t get any design changes for 2024, unless you opt for the new LE or XLE Nightshade in Hybrid only engines. Highlander Front

What’s Under the Hood?

The Highlander was refreshed in 2023 to lose two of its cylinders for a new I-4 powertrain. However, there are still two options:

Standard Engine:

  • 2.4 I-4 Turbo with 265 hp and 310 lb.ft
  • 8-Speed Automatic
  • FWD or AWD

Hybrid:

  • 2.5L I-4 + 2 electric motors and battery: 243 hp (total system)
  • FWD or AWD
  • eCVT

AWD is optional on all Highlander models. Most gas models of the Highlander are rated as follows:

FWD: 22/29/25 MPG (some versions are 24 combined)

AWD: 21/28/24 MPG

Hybrid is around 36 MPG combined
