Unlike its similar sibling, the Forester, the Outback offers two powertrains to equip:

  • Base: 2.5L BOXER 4-cylinder: 182 hp | 176 lb.ft

 

  • XT: 2.4L Turbo Boxer 4: 260 hp | 277 lb.ft of torque
  • Standard on Wilderness only
  • Opt on Onyx, Limited, Touring

Each engine has a Lineartronic CVT and standard Symmetrical AWD. The fuel economy for each model is unchanged for 2025, as rated by the EPA:

Base: 26/32/28 MPG

XT: 22/29/25 MPG

Wilderness: 21/26/23 MPG
